Code Enforcement Officer

City of Rockland

The City of Rockland is seeking a skilled, hardworking candidate to serve as our Code Enforcement Officer. The Code Enforcement Officer is responsible for administration and enforcement of all City and applicable State and Federal regulations relating to land use, building and electrical codes, plumbing (interior and septic), Property Maintenance Code, Shoreland Zoning, and Floodplain Development. Advises and educates the public regarding these regulations. Follows up on complaints and either settles matters without notification or issues violation notices and follows up to ensure compliance.

The successful candidate must have experience in building construction trades and/or knowledge of construction methods. The candidate must be able to read and understand building plans, specifications, and related technical documents. They must also be able to maintain good working relationships with all constituencies, and be committed to fostering a positive, harmonious work environment, and be dependable and trustworthy.

Additionally, the candidate must also possess the following:

Experience and Education/Training:

At least four, (4) years of prior related experience
High school education or equivalent.
You must obtain all certifications within one year of employment.
Licenses/Certifications/Other:

Valid State of Maine Driver’s License
