Sand for Seniors

11:53 pm in Police Department by Scott

The Rockland Police Department is pleased to announce that this winter, we will again be participating in the “Sand for Seniors” program.

Sand for Seniors is a program where Officers from the Rockland Police Department deliver a bucket of sand/salt to citizens in the community to use on their icy walkways or driveways. The program is for senior citizens that are otherwise not able to pick up sand/salt from public works on their own.

Additionally, this program gets members of the Rockland Police Department in contact with seniors who may be in need of other services or support.

The program is a collaborative effort that includes The Home Depot, the City of Rockland and Teamsters Local Union 340. Anyone interested in the program must complete an application and submit it for review to the Rockland Police Department. Qualifying applicants must be 65 years of age or older and show proof of disadvantage by answering some basic questions. Applications can be picked up at Rockland City Hall (270 Pleasant Street) or at the Rockland Police Department (1 Police Plaza).

Questions about the program or anyone needing assistance with getting/filling out an application please contact Sergeant Scott Redmun at (207) 594-0316 Ext: 241, or by E-mail: SREDMUN@ROCKLANDMAINE.GOV.
